Who we are

KeepJar is made by The Founders Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17035648, registered office 22 Villiers Gardens, London E20 1GW. The Founders Ltd is the controller of your personal data for KeepJar.

What we collect

• Your email address, so you can sign in with a one-time code.
• What you save: links, text, screenshots, notes, tags and collections.
• Link previews: the titles, descriptions, preview images and text our server fetches from links you save.
• Capture tokens you create for saving from other places.
• A log of actions your connected AI took: the tool it used, the item, the time and which connection it was.
• OAuth connections you approve, such as connecting Claude.
• Basic server and security logs: IP address, time and request, kept for security.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To provide the service to you: storing and showing what you save, fetching link previews, search, and the connections you approve. Our lawful basis is the contract between us (our terms of use).
• To send you sign-in codes by email. This is part of providing the service, so our lawful basis is again the contract.
• Security and abuse prevention, using the server and security logs. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in keeping KeepJar and the people who use it safe.

We don't use your data for advertising, we don't sell it, we don't profile you, and we don't use analytics or tracking cookies.

How meaning search works

To search by meaning, a text-embedding model runs on our own server. Your saves are not sent to an outside AI company for this.

If you connect your own AI assistant, such as Claude, it receives the items it asks for. What that provider does with them is covered by its own terms and privacy policy.

Link previews

When you save a link, our server requests that page to fetch its title and preview. The site sees a request from our server, not from you. We never download Instagram media.

Who processes data for us

• IONOS SE: our servers in Germany, which hold the database and your files.
• Cloudflare, Inc.: DNS, network security, and hosting of this website and the web app. Cloudflare may process data outside the UK and EEA; where it does, the transfer is covered by standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum.
• Resend: delivery of sign-in emails, from its EU region.
• Apple: distribution of the app through the App Store, under Apple's own privacy policy.

Where we offer KeepJar Pro in the app, purchases go through Apple, and RevenueCat, Inc. processes your purchase status and your KeepJar account ID to tell us whether you have Pro.

Where your data is stored

Your account and everything in your jar are stored in Germany, in the EU.

How long we keep it

We keep your data until you delete it. Deleting your account removes your account, items and files from the live service straight away. Backups are kept for up to 14 days and then deleted. Security logs are kept only for a short time.

Cookies and local storage

• This website sets no cookies.
• The web app keeps your sign-in session in your browser's local storage. This is strictly necessary for you to stay signed in.
• Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• get a copy of your data (export);
• have it corrected;
• have it deleted;
• restrict how we use it;
• object to how we use it.

You can export your data yourself in the web app, and delete your account in Settings in the app or the web app, any time. For anything else, email support@mykeepjar.com.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Children

KeepJar is not for children under 13.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new date.
